Youth & Opportunity United (Y.O.U.)

Y.O.U. is a youth development organization that promotes the agency, success, and well-being of young people and their families through identity-affirming relationships, expanded learning opportunities, and resources to meet emerging needs. The Out of School Time Program fosters social-emotional learning and school success at ten partner schools in Evanston and Skokie Illinois after school each day and all day during the summer, offering academic support, enrichments, and opportunities for peer connection and fun to engage youth through exposure in the Elementary Program, exploration in the Middle School Program, and experience in the High School Program. Y.O.U. collaborates with more than 50 partner providers to expand experiential learning opportunities in safe and nurturing environments. Mental health services are also integrated into Y.O.U.'s OST Program for youth in grades 2-12, as well as delivered through a community-based street outreach model at locations where youth gather across the community. These services include individual, group, and family counseling; comprehensive case management; provision of basic gateway services, including food, referrals to shelter, and transportation passes; 24-hour housing crisis response for youth experiencing homelessness; family reunification services, family-generated placements, emergency shelter placements; and coordination with local service providers. All services are provided to children and their families at no cost.
