Proposed Budget - Fiscal Year 2027

The Fiscal Year 2027 Proposed Budget for the City of Evanston will be published by Tuesday, October 6. After the Proposed Budgeted is initially shared, periodic updates and additional information will be provided throughout the Fall. Please check this site regularly throughout the Fall for more information.

2027 Tentative Budget Process Calendar

This schedule is subject to change throughout the Fall at the discretion of City Staff or the City Council. More details about presentations at joint ward meetings will be posted as soon as they are available.

  • Tuesday, October 6:  2027 Proposed Budget available on City website
  • Wednesday, October 7:  2027 Proposed Budget presented at the regular Finance & Budget Committee Meeting
  • Monday, October 12:  2027 Proposed Budget presented at the regular City Council Meeting
  • October - November:  Presentation of 2027 Proposed Budget at joint ward meetings

  • Monday, October 26:  Budget Public Hearing at the regular City Council meeting
  • Monday, November 2:  Truth in Taxation Hearing at (tentative) Special City Council meeting
  • Wednesday, November 4:  2027 Proposed Budget discussion at regular Finance & Budget Committee meeting
  • Monday, November 9:  2027 Budget Ordinances and Resolutions introduced at regular City Council meeting
  • Monday, November 23:  2027 Budget Ordinances and Resolutions for action at regular City Council meeting (target adoption date)
  • Late December: Tax levy filing deadline

Adopted Budget - Fiscal Year 2026

On Monday, November 24, 2025, the Evanston City Council adopted the FY 2026 budget. With approved changes, the adopted budget includes $338,636,161 in revenues (excluding operating transfers and use of fund balance) and $342,108,097 in expenses (excluding operating and public safety pension transfers).
