City Announces 2026 Memorial Day Holiday Schedule
The City of Evanston has announced facility closures for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25.
Refuse Collection
Collection services will not take place on recognized holidays, including Memorial Day, May 25. All waste services will be postponed by one day.
Parking
Parking meters, pay boxes, and downtown parking garages will be free on Memorial Day. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored. No street cleaning will occur on Monday, May 25.
Facility Closures
The Morton City Hall will be closed Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25.
All Evanston Public Library locations, the Robert Crown Community Center, Chandler-Newberger Community Center, Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, Noyes Cultural Arts Center, Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Jorge and Luz Maria Prieto Community Center, the Ecology Center, and Levy Senior Center will be closed on Monday, May 25.
Beaches
All Evanston beaches will open for the season beginning Saturday, May 23. Beaches will be open on Memorial Day.
Beaches will be free to Evanston residents again this year. Similarly to last year, all beach patrons must present a season beach pass or daily ticket to enter the beach. Beach fees still apply for non-Evanston residents.

The 311 Service Center will be closed on Memorial Day. The 311 Center will also be closed on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, according to its normal operating schedule. 311 is available online 24/7 at cityofevanston.org/311.
