Crosswalk Mural Painting Events This Weekend, Road Closures Expected

The Evanston Love Your Block initiative is hosting two crosswalk mural projects this weekend, and nearby residents should plan for street closures. Community members are also invited to join in for the volunteer projects!

Public Green Space Crosswalk Beautification

Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., at the intersection of Callan Avenue and Mulford Street. 

Street closures:

• Callan Avenue (between Kee Lee Tot Lot and Elks Park)
• Mulford Street

The public is welcome to stop by and watch the painting process; the mural features native wildflowers and pollinators. View the flyer for the event.

Slow Down on Elmwood

On Sunday, August 30, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the intersection of Elmwood Avenue and Monroe Street

Street closures:

• Ridge Avenue/Monroe Street
• Elmwood Avenue/Madison Street
• Elmwood Avenue/Monroe Street
• Elmwood Avenue/Reba Place

Alley closures:

• Monroe (between Ridge/Elmwood)
• Elmwood (between Monroe/Madison)
• Elmwood (between Monroe/Reba)
