1909 Intake Replacement
1909 Intake Replacement Project
Project Summary:
The Water Filtration Plant is served by three raw water intakes extending into Lake Michigan. Each is comprised of an intake structure and pipeline. The oldest intake was built in 1909. It is beyond its useful life, is performing under capacity, and is in need of replacement. Replacement of the intake is a significant effort that will take at least five years to complete, including 2 years for design, 2 to 3 years for permitting (which will begin during design), and 2 to 3 years for construction.
