How to Use the Parking Pay Stations
Paying for Parking
When is payment required?
Payment for parking in most paid spaces is in effect from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Parking is free on Sundays (with the exception of lakefront parking areas) and holidays.
Lakefront parking
Vehicles without a current year paid Evanston wheel tax are subject to parking fees on designated streets along the lakefront, with enforcement between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., seven days a week. Parking rates are set at $3 per hour, April 1 through October 31, and $0.50 per hour, November 1 through March 31.
The City is currently placing signage and pay stations in these designated areas. Parking fees will be assessed as signage and pay stations are installed.
Those who are parking vehicles registered to an Evanston address with a current year paid wheel tax do not need to pay for lakefront parking sessions.
Lakefront parking areas include:
-
2611 Sheridan Rd., Lighthouse Beach lot
-
1700 - 1800 block of Sheridan Road (east and west)
-

How much does parking cost?
The majority of parking spaces are $2 per hour in 2-hour or 4-hour maximum parking zones. Zones with a 12-hour maximum time will be charged at $0.50 an hour. Always be sure to read the signs or check the ParkEvanston App or pay station for more information, as not all rates are the same and are subject to change.
A $0.35 convenience fee may be assessed when using the ParkEvanston App, depending on the Zone. Exceptions may include, but are not limited to, short-term parking zones or zones that are not near other areas with additional parking/payment options available. The convenience fee will be waived for all transactions made through the "wallet" feature of the ParkEvanston App.
