City Celebrates 15 Years of Exceptional Service from 311 Center

The City of Evanston proudly celebrates the 15th Anniversary of its 311 Center, marking a milestone in responsive, community-focused local government service.

Since its launch in March of 2011, the Evanston 311 Center has served as a one-stop hub for community members seeking information or assistance with City services. From reporting potholes and missed refuse pickups to answering questions about permits, public safety, and community programs, 311 has streamlined access to City Hall.

Over the past 15 years, the 311 Center has handled just under 1,900,000 (almost 2 million) phone calls, responded to 36,000 chats and 23,000 texts, and managed 455,000 service requests.

“For 15 years, our 311 team has demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and accountability in every interaction. They are often the first point of contact with the City and set the tone for how we serve our community,” said City Manager Stowe. “I’m incredibly grateful to the entire 311 team for their constant dedication."

The 311 Center has also played a vital role during emergencies, providing accurate information, coordinating service requests, and helping residents navigate rapidly changing situations.

To commemorate the anniversary, community members are encouraged to share stories of their positive 311 experiences by emailing communications@cityofevanston.org.

Please note: the 311 Center will be closed on Tuesday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as staff celebrate this achievement. During this time, the 311 voicemail message and webpage will reflect the temporary closure. Any messages or requests received will be reviewed and addressed after 2 p.m.
